EU to depend on Russian energy resources until at least 2027

The EC has confirmed its expectations that the EU will remain dependent on energy resources from the Russian Federation until at least 2027, EC spokesman Tim McPhee said at a briefing in Brussels, Report informs referring to TASS.

The European Commission made this decision after the summit with the US, which discussed the expansion of LNG supplies to the EU.

As was said in the previously published RePower EU program, the EC will depend on carbon fuel from Russia until 2027, he said, when asked how quickly US LNG supplies would help the EU phase out Russian gas.
