Energy minister: Kyrgyzstan interested in purchasing oil from Azerbaijan

Baku and Bishkek continue discussions on oil supplies from Azerbaijan to Kyrgyzstan, said Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev in an exclusive interview with Report.

"This issue (of oil supplies) is also being worked on. The director of our Kyrgyz Oil and Gas company has come with me and will be meeting with the management of the Baku Oil Refinery," he said.

Ibraev recalled that discussions on oil supplies from Azerbaijan to Kyrgyzstan between the heads of the two organizations were previously held during the official visit of Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov to Baku.

"We met then, and today we continue these negotiations. We are interested in the supply of oil and petroleum products to the Kyrgyz Republic," said Ibraev.

Regarding the volume of supplies, the minister noted that discussions are at an initial stage, so it's premature to mention specific figures. "We need to discuss logistics and, naturally, the cost. Of course, we are ready to purchase oil. Our oil refinery has recently started operating, so we are interested in oil supplies," the minister concluded.
