Deputy minister: Türkiye will increase daily gas production to 40 mcm

Türkiye aims to increase its daily gas production to 40 million cubic meters (mcm), Turkish Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ahmet Berat Conkar said at a panel discussion on "Global Cooperation for a Resilient and Sustainable Energy Future" held within the framework of the 30th edition of the Baku Energy Forum and the 13th Caspian International Energy and Green Energy Exhibition on Tuesday.

Report quotes Conkar as saying no country can build energy security alone: "We can only do this through continuous cooperation. Türkiye's location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia allows the country to play the role of a trade hub. Türkiye has invested heavily in energy-related infrastructure."

He noted that energy security is the basis of Türkiye's strategy: "Türkiye has committed to 0% emissions by 2053. We will increase renewable energy production from 30 gigawatts to 120 gigawatts by 2035, and for this purpose, an investment of $120 billion is required."

The deputy minister said that his country currently produces 9.5 million cubic meters of gas per day: "Daily production at the Osman Gazi field is planned to be 11 mcm. Türkiye's goal is to increase gas production to 40 mcm per day. The Sakarya gas field plays a special role in this regard."
