Construction of solar power plant in Azerbaijan to start in late 2021

"We have made significant progress in the construction of a solar power plant in Azerbaijan," General Manager at Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) Husain Al Meer told journalists at a press conference within the training program "Greentech Summer Camp 2021" held in Baku.

According to him, last year, an executive agreement was signed with Azerbaijan to implement the project.

"In April 2021, we signed an Investment Agreement, Power Purchase agreement, and Transmission Connection agreement," he added. "We are planning to start the construction of the plant in late 2021 or early 2022."

On April 6, 2021, the Azerbaijani government and Masdar signed an agreement on constructing a 230 MW solar power plant. The plat will be located in Gobustan. The total cost of the project is $200 million.
