Construction of gas processing plant planned at Karachaganak field

As part of the project to expand the Kazakh Karachaganak field, it is planned to build a gas processing plant (GPP) with a capacity of 4 billion cubic meters per year.

Report informs via the Kazakh media that this issue was discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and Executive Vice President of Shell Peter Costello.

They also noted that the priority is to maintain oil and condensate production from the field at a level of at least 11 million tons per year.

"Special attention was paid to the stable operation of the Kashagan field. Over the past year, oil production amounted to 18.77 million tons, gas production made 11.86 billion cubic meters, and gas re-injection into the reservoir amounted to 5.83 billion cubic meters,” the Kazakh government reported.

The issue of constructing a gas processing plant is at the development stage for the full-scale development of Kashagan.

Shell's share is 29.25% in the Karachaganak project and 16.8% in Kashagan.
