CIS prime ministers approve concept of energy cooperation

The prime ministers of the CIS countries approved a five-year concept of cooperation in the field of energy and the concept of the development of the chemical industry, Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, said following the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS.

According to him, the concept and other industry documents provide for the active implementation of the state-of-the-art methods and models of managing large energy systems, which will lead to a decrease in the negative impact on the environment.

"A number of decisions concern the chemical industry. The corresponding concept and the plan of measures for its implementation have been signed," Mishustin noted.

He said that in order to grow the economy, it is necessary to move from the export-raw material model to the innovation-investment model.

"We will concentrate on creating effective resource- and energy-saving and, of course, ecologically safe productions," said the Russian Prime Minister.
