Burduja: Tuzla - Podisor gas pipeline to become another route for Azerbaijani gas to Europe

The commissioning of the Romanian main gas pipeline Tuzla - Podisor will create an opportunity to transport gas from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Greece to Europe through it, Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja said on his LinkedIn page, according to Report.

"Romania is establishing itself as a strategic hub on the new regional energy map: we are investing heavily in infrastructure that ensures our energy security and reliability, we are commissioning key projects that connect the Black Sea region with Western markets, and we are participating in all major regional initiatives, from the Southern [Gas] Corridor to BRUA (Bulgaria - Romania - Hungary - Austria pipeline)," Burduja noted.

He also reported that the pipeline, which will receive gas from the Black Sea, is more than 99% ready and will be officially commissioned within the next 60 days. The project, worth more than 500 million euros, will be completed ahead of schedule and in accordance with the highest technical and environmental standards.

"The commissioning of Tuzla - Podisor will provide access to gas for about 185,000 Romanians and 523 government institutions in settlements through which the pipeline will pass. It will also create an opportunity for transporting gas from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Greece to Europe via this pipeline in the next two years, strengthening European energy security," the minister noted.

The 308.3 km Tuzla - Podisor pipeline is designed to deliver gas from the Black Sea to Western Europe. Through it, gas will be transported from the Neptun Deep section to the BRUA pipeline.
