Bulgarian minister talks about negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding import of additional natural gas

We do not entirely rely on Gazprom. We rely on diversification, we are negotiating with several companies - Shell, Cheniere, and countries - Turkiye and Azerbaijan regarding additional natural gas, said the Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Rosen Hristov, Report informs, citing foreign media.

Hristov refused to disclose the details of whether a ruble account will be opened to make payments to Gazprom and explained that this is confidential information:

"I cannot discuss the details, but we are working on the same scheme other European countries are working on. We will not separate ourselves from other European countries."

He emphasized that if the previous government of Bulgaria had done its job correctly, they would not have been in a position to look for a solution in a short period: "We are discussing strategies to ensure both pipeline gas and LNG terminal volumes."

Hristov said that the team he represents has been working on the restoration of Bulgargaz since coming to power and mentioned the funds allocated for strengthening the company. He announced that more additional funds would be allocated next time.

The minister noted that the only thing they can do to help citizens and businesses is to supply them with gas.
