BP Azerbaijan plans to complete the Central Azeri Gas Expansion (CAGE) project at the Central Azeri platform in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block in Azerbaijan's sector of the Caspian Sea in September this year, Report informs.
According to the operator's report on behalf of the ACG partners, work on the project progressed according to schedule during the first half of the year.
As part of the CAGE project, the internal rotating assemblies and auxiliary components of the platform's four existing gas injection compressors have been replaced and extensively upgraded.
BP said the work was carried out while maintaining uninterrupted production, without shutting down output or requiring additional gas flaring, and was completed safely and ahead of schedule.
The CAGE project is designed to expand gas reinjection capacity at the Central Azeri platform, helping maximize oil production from existing wells.
The project began in January. Additional modification work is scheduled to be carried out during planned maintenance at the Central Azeri platform in August, with all remaining work expected to be completed in September.
The production sharing agreement (PSA) for the joint development of the ACG field block was signed on September 20, 1994, and the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) was established in February 1995.
A revised agreement signed on September 14, 2017, extended development of the ACG block through the end of 2049.
The ACG project partners are BP (30.37%), SOCAR (35.3%), MOL (9.57%), INPEX (9.31%), ExxonMobil (6.79%), TPAO (5.73%), and ONGC Videsh Limited (2.92%).
