BP expects FID on construction of compressor platform in Shah Deniz in June

The British company BP plc expects the final investment decision (FID) on the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) platform construction project in the Shah Deniz field to be made in June this year, head of the press service of BP-Azerbaijan Tamam Bayatli said in a statement to journalists, Report informs.

Earlier, Bayatli stated that the final investment decision on the project is expected to be made by the end of the year.

"Currently, all the focus in Shah Deniz is on a new project - the construction of the SDC platform. We have released the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report of this project. The document has also been submitted to the government and we are waiting for its approval, which means the transition to the implementation stage. However, before the start of implementation, a final investment decision must be made, which we have planned for the summer, at the latest by the end of the second quarter, but as far as I know, it is planned for June," she noted.

The head of the press service added that later, contractors and construction sites will be selected for the implementation of the project.

The project includes the construction of an electrically powered SDC unmanned compressor platform, the laying of electrical and fiber-optic cables, as well as in-field subsea gas pipelines from the Alpha and Bravo platforms.
