BP commences drilling at new ACE platform well

Energy giant BP has started drilling the third production well from its new Central East Azeri (ACE) platform, located on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of fields.

Tamam Bayatly, Public Relations Manager at BP-Azerbaijan, told Report that production from the new ACE platform is planned from three wells this year. The first well came online in April, followed by the second, which was recently completed and put into operation on August 11. Output from this well will gradually ramp up.

Drilling has now commenced on the third production well from the ACE platform. BP expects the platform's daily oil production to reach 24,000 barrels by the end of 2024, contributed by these three wells.

The ACE project represents the next stage in developing the prolific ACG block, involving the drilling of 48 wells in total. It aims to achieve peak daily production of up to 100,000 barrels of oil and 350,000 cubic feet of gas through additional wells and offshore facilities.
