Baderschneider: Azerbaijan can become global energy center

Azerbaijan has enormous potential in the field of renewable energy sources and could become one of the key energy centers of the world, Jean Baderschneider, a member of the Board of Directors of Fortescue Ltd., former Vice President of ExxonMobil (2000-2013) and head of the Global Action against Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants, said at a press conference, Report informs.

She emphasized that the resources used to support Europe in recent years, as well as the rich potential in wind energy, solar energy, and hydroelectric power plants create unique opportunities for Azerbaijan to transform into a global energy center.

"The world is changing, and, believe me, I feel it. We are facing serious global challenges, including climate change, which require active actions. Last year, Azerbaijan made its mark on the world stage during COP29, taking bold commitments and supporting complex debates. Now we are discussing how the transition from COP29 to COP30 will look like in order to strengthen the powerful platform created as a result of Azerbaijan's chairmanship," Baderschneider noted.

According to her, climate change is an existential problem, and Azerbaijan, being in the spotlight, plays an important role in solving it.
