Azerenergy OJSC plans to connect Nakhchivan’s electricity network to the energy system of Azerbaijan in 2023-2024, Report says referring to Baba Rzayev, the president of Azerenergy OJSC.

According to him, the connection will take place within the "Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Europe multinational energy project":

"The creation of a 'green energy' zone and its provision both for domestic consumption and sale abroad to European countries is one of the biggest priorities set by President Ilham Aliyev. We have just started it. It is a three-stage project named “Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Europe multinational energy project.”

"As the name suggests, it is a huge project. The first stage has begun and should end in 2022-2023. The second stage is to connect Nakhchivan’s electricity network to the energy system of Azerbaijan in 2023-2024, and the third stage is an inverter substation that is yet to be installed in Azerbaijan. We want to build an inverter substation with a capacity of at least 1,000 MW, to ensure a connection with Iran and the sale of energy to Europe via Turkiye," he said.
