Azerenergy doubles export capacity to Georgia

Along with increasing the generation capacity in the country, significant work has been done to reconstruct the transmission infrastructure, said the President of AzerEnergy Baba Rzayev.

According to him, high-voltage power lines have been laid in order to improve the exchange of electricity with neighboring Georgia and Iran, increase export opportunities. A 330 kV Agstafa-Gardabani transmission line was built and put into operation at a distance of 43.4 km, and the export capacity doubled (700 MW).

Rzayev said that the construction of the 67.5-kilometer 220 kV "Masalli (Azerbaijan) -Astara (Iran)" transmission line, which began in 2013, is nearing completion: "The construction of new interstate power transmission lines will further boost Azerbaijan's energy exchange potential and encourage our country's access to the international energy market."

One 500 kV substation ("Absheron") and four 220 kV substations ("Mushfig", "Khirdalan", "Hovsan", "Nizami" ”) were reconstructed, and one 220 kV "Boyukshor" substation was built to strengthen the reliability and stability of electricity supply. Also, eighteen 110 kV substations were completely reconstructed, two new substations were built.
