Azerbaijani energy minister, Belgian envoy focus on energy-related issues

At their meeting, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Belgian ambassador to Azerbaijan Michelle Peters focused on the existing cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, Report has learnt from the ministry.

The sides exchanged views on reforms being implemented by Azerbaijan in the energy sector, energy efficiency, expansion of renewable energy use, work done in the field of energy transition, in general, draft legislations, energy projects involving private investment.

In this regard, they discussed the prospects for the development of energy cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of renewable energy, and expressed confidence that the participation of Belgian companies in renewable energy auctions could create additional opportunities for cooperation.

The importance of the Southern Gas Corridor, which contributes to the energy security of the region and Europe, especially the diversification of energy sources and routes, in the context of global energy security, was emphasized.
