Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan mull cooperation in green energy

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan exchanged views on establishing cooperation in the field of renewable energy, a source in the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy told Report.

According to the information, a meeting was held between representatives of AREA and think tanks of Uzbekistan in this regard. At the meeting, the Director of the Agency, Javid Abdullayev, said that Azerbaijan has a high renewable energy potential and several projects are being implemented in this field.

He provided extensive information about cooperation with foreign companies in the indicated field, strategic partnership in the field of green energy development and transmission, the Agreement and export routes, and brought to the attention of the guests the issues arising from the “Low Carbon Hydrogen Economy Market Study" Azerbaijan country report, prepared with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Head of the delegation Sherzod Fayziyev, deputy director of the International Institute of Central Asia of Uzbekistan, said that the establishment of cooperation in the field of energy is of great interest to the two countries, and there is great potential for the development of cooperation in this direction.

Milana Bazarova, the head of the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, gave detailed information about the renewable energy potential of her country and the implemented projects.
