Azerbaijan’s wind power production up by 55%

Wind power production rose 55% to 26.2 million kWh in January-May 2023, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

The output in the sector of electric power, gas, and steam production, distribution, and supply amounted to 1,321.8 million ($777.5 million) in January-May 2023, up 5.5% from a year earlier.

The production in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector has risen by 16.5%, settling at 213 million manats ($125.3 million).

Azerbaijan produced 11,165.2 million kWh of electricity in the reporting period, up 5.9% from the previous year. Of this, 10.787 billion kWh were commercial electricity, 5.9% more than the last year.

The hydropower plants produced 657.6 million kWh of electricity, 12.2% less than a year ago.

The thermal power plants generated 10.078 billion kWh of energy, 7.2% more than in 2022.

Solar power production increased by 4.6% to 25.2 million kWh.
