Azerbaijan's profit from polypropylene exports up by 53%

In January 2021, Azerbaijan, according to customs declarations, exported 9,509 tons of polypropylene in primary forms, Report informs with reference to the country's State Customs Committee.

The monetary value of the exported polypropylene was $10.067 million.

According to the committee, this is $3.476 million (52.7%) more than in the same month last year.

The exports also increased by volume – by 1,472 tons or 18.3%.

In January 2021, the share of polypropylene in the non-oil exports amounted to 6.89%.

The SOCAR Polymer project includes a polypropylene plant with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and a high-density polyethylene plant with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year. The polypropylene plant's opening took place on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Exports of polypropylene began on October 5.
