Azerbaijan's profit from polypropylene export decreases

In December 2020, Azerbaijan exported primary form polypropylene (in granules) worth $8.2 million, Report informs, referring to the January issue of the Export Review of the Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms.

This is $1.9 million, or 30.16 percent more than in the same month of 2019.

In 2020, Azerbaijan exported polypropylene for $64.5 million, a drop of $1.2 million or 1.82 percent from 2019.

The SOCAR Polymer project includes plants for the production of polypropylene with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and high-density polyethylene production with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year.

The polypropylene plant was inaugurated on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

Export of polypropylene began on October 5.
