Azerbaijan leading for volume of gas supplies to Turkey

In October this year, Azerbaijan supplied 931.99 mln cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey, Report says, citing the Turkish Energy Marget Regulatory Authority.

By the information, this figure is 20.82% higher than in October last year. Azerbaijan accounts for 29.5% of natural gas transported to Turkey in October.

In January-October of this year, Azerbaijan provided Turkey with 7,795,240 cubic meters of natural gas, a 30.3% increase from January-October 2018. With this indicator, Azerbaijan became the second main supplier of natural gas to Turkey.

Azerbaijan was the leader in gas supplies to Turkey in October. For this indicator, the country is followed by Iran, which transported 856.35 mln cubic meters of gas in the reporting period, making an increase of 27.11% from October last year. Russia, the leading gas supplier to Turkey, was the third in October after it provided Turkey with only 595.85 mln cubic meters of gas, a 2.8-fold decrease from October 2018.

In October, Turkey imported a total of 3,158.89 mln cubic meters of gas, a 12.96% decline from October 2017.

Turkey imports natural gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field via the Southern gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) and TANAP. Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum piped the first gas to Turkey in 2007. Supplies of commercial gas to Turkey via TANAP started on June 30, 2018.
