Azerbaijan invites US companies to cooperate in green energy

Azerbaijan invites US companies to cooperate in the field of green energy, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said at the Azerbaijan-US Green Energy Forum held in Baku, Report informs.

Soltanov noted that Azerbaijan is developing all components of the green energy agenda in parallel and has attracted foreign investment in this field:

"As an example, I can cite the construction of a solar-based plant with a capacity of 400 MW/h for the first time in the country. Green energy projects will be implemented until 2030. Azerbaijan's renewable energy potential is 200 MW/h. The development of Karabakh and East Zangazur, 700 MW/h in the zero net emission area, as well as the development of 60 small hydroelectric power plants, should be ensured by 2026."

According to him, work is underway to turn Nakhchivan into a rich energy hub:

"We intend to implement many foreign projects here. We can export our total energy potential to Türkiye and Europe. The green energy corridor will pass through Azerbaijan via the Black Sea project. The Caspian Sea will be a place of green energy. Azerbaijan is diversifying its and Europe's energy sector. After about a year, the reforms carried out in the energy system of Azerbaijan will begin to manifest themselves better."

Soltanov touched on the issue of establishing an independent transmission system operator in the country:

"At present, both the integration and transmission system are combined in Azerenergy OJSC. It developed countries it is usually different. This process has slowly started in our country and a law has been prepared in this regard."
