In January 2022, Azerbaijan exported 6,501 tons of polypropylene in primary forms worth $10.306 million, down 31.6% or up 2.4% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the Export Review of the Azerbaijani Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication.
Polypropylene accounted for 4.44% of exports in the non-oil sector, for 0.33% of total exports of the country.
The SOCAR Polymer project includes polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and high-density polyethylene plants with a yearly capacity of 120,000 tons. The polypropylene plant was commissioned on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Export of polypropylene started on October 5.
