Azerbaijan imports 70,000 tonnes of AI-92 gasoline during maintenance at Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery

Baku. 20 November. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijan imported 70,000 tonnes of AI-92 gasoline during the annual maintenance works at SOCAR’s Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, Deputy Head of SOCAR's Public Relations Department Ibrahim Ahmadov told Report.

According to him, of this, 40,000 tonnes were imported from Russia, 30,000 tonnes from Europe through the Kulevi terminal.

Ahmadov said that the planned maintenance works at the refinery have already been completed and all facilities have been launched.

He also spoke about the modernization and reconstruction of the refinery and noted that the new Bitumen facility will be put into operation soon: "Preparations for launching the facility are underway."

The refinery has been stopped for annual maintenance operations. In line with the procedures, all refineries are reset once a year.

Modernization and reconstruction works at Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil refinery commenced in 2015.

The reconstruction works at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery will be carried out within three stages. The first stage includes construction and launch of the Bitumen facility and common plant facilities, as well as a new liquid-gas filling station in 2018. In the second stage it is planned to purchase Euro-5 diesel fuel by the end of 2020 and the third stage envisages production of AI-92/95/98 gasolines meeting Euro-5 standard by early 2021.
