Azerbaijan becomes second largest supplier of electricity to Georgia

From January through April 2021, Georgia imported 499.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the Georgian Electricity Market Operator (ESCO).

According to the operator, this figure is 22% more than in the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan met 29.41% of Georgia’s needs for electricity.

In total, Georgia imported 1,697.3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

In the first four months of 2021, Georgia received 1,037 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Russia and 161.2 million kilowatt-hours from Turkey.
