Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are working on the possibility of gas and fertilizer barter, said the Minister of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria, Nikola Stoyanov, Report informs.
According to him, the idea of barter of electricity and gas between the two countries has turned into an idea of barter of gas and finished products: "This means that there are two large fertilizer plants and Azerbaijan is the main fertilizer producer."
"Fertilizers are cheaper to transport than gas. That is, if a country supplies gas to this plant, it can supply fertilizer to the other side in return, thus, there will be no need to bear the logistical costs of transportation. Azerbaijan can sell the mentioned fertilizers directly to Europe," the minister added.
