Atlantic Council: Ambivalent geopolitical situation can’t harm BTC's operation

The ambivalent geopolitical situation in the world cannot harm the operation of the main export pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), Landon Derentz, the senior director and Morningstar Chair for Global Energy Security at the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, said in the plenary discussions on “Oil Flows: Cross-Logistics and Infrastructure Development in Azerbaijan” on the 2nd day of the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.

He noted that the sanctions imposed on Russian oil created wide opportunities for Azerbaijan: “As supplies from Russia have stopped, serious attention will be paid to Azerbaijan. The geopolitical situation showed us that exports through Azerbaijan are increasing year by year. It also demonstrated the possibilities of expanding the BTC pipeline. Also, looking ahead, we see some concerns when evaluating China's impact on the market. Therefore, new opportunities will be explored to develop relations with Kazakhstan.”
