Anar Mammadov: Türkiye needs 8 more Petkim to meet its demand for petrochemical products

Türkiye needs 8 more enterprises like the Petkim petrochemical complex to meet its demand for petrochemical products, Anar Mammadov, the head of the SOCAR Türkiye Refinery and Petrochemical Business Unit and the Petkim Director-General, told Haber Turk, Report informs.

According to him, Petkim currently accounts for 12% of Turkish petrochemical production: "The complex with an annual production capacity of 3.6 million tons employs 2,339 people."

Mammadov spoke about a new petrochemical complex (Mercury project) that the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to implement in the Aliaga district of Izmir.

He said that the construction of the petrochemical complex that SOCAR planned to build with bp was stopped after bp left petrochemical production worldwide.

Mammadov noted that bp has no investment plans for 2023, but every opportunity is being strategically evaluated.
