Azerbaijan has an important role on the global scale in terms of providing the world with safe, reliable, and affordable energy, said Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), on the first day of the Baku Energy Forum, which started on June 5, Report informs.
The director stressed that Azerbaijan has played a great role in this direction throughout history:
"We see the opportunity for this region to play a bigger role in the future. Also, when we consider the energy landscape, it's clear that there is population growth and economic growth, and that requires more energy. The biggest challenge for companies like us is to decarbonize today's energy and to invest in the energies of tomorrow. Some of my colleagues here also emphasized the need to invest more in renewable energy, hydrogen, natural gas, and especially traditional energy sources."
Al Kaabi noted that for traditional energy producers such as ADNOC, it is very important that Azerbaijan hosts the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29):
"We should also think about meeting the huge energy demand that will soon arise. Over time, the demand for decarbonization and adoption of natural gas, hydrogen, and renewable energy will also increase to meet the growing energy demand."
