PISA creator: Climate change impacts concept of sustainable education

Climate change affects the concept of sustainable education, said Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and creator of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), at the V International Forum "New Challenges in Education" in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the best investment in a good future for the planet is education that instills in young people the values of caring for the environment.

"Unfortunately, not everything learned in school affects students' behavior. The results of international PISA assessments also give reason to talk about this," said the creator of PISA.

He is convinced that young people should not only be aware of the problems associated with climate change but also actively participate in solving them.

"They should become not just observers, but people capable of taking active action. They need to understand that they can change the world for the better," emphasized Andreas Schleicher.
