No new strains of COVID-19 reported in Azerbaijan - OFFICIAL

At present, no new strains of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Azerbaijan, TABIB said in response to Report’s inquiry.

It was noted that due to the increase in visits to foreign countries in the summer season, the number of infections with the COVID-19 virus is expected to increase seasonally:

“The gathering of people from different countries in closed venues such as airports, airplanes, and mass entertainment venues can stimulate the increase of infections and cause the spread of new strains. However, no new strains of COVID-19 have been reported in Azerbaijan. The coronavirus continues to mutate, and subvariants of these strains with additional mutations are already forming. Therefore, variants of the virus are constantly monitored by WHO and other public health agencies.”
