Today is Knowledge Day in Azerbaijan, as the new school year begins on September 15 in all general, secondary special education, and higher educational institutions of the country, Report informs.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, the number of first-graders in secondary schools will be 158,297. A total of 147,029 pupils will study in the ninth grade and 100,455 in the eleventh grade. In all, 1,616,214 pupils will study in the new academic year.
Moreover, 484,731 children will study in secondary schools operating under the supervision of the Baku City Education Department. A total of 46,200 schoolchildren are expected to study in the first grade, 37,987 in the 9th grade, 26,898 in the 10th grade, 25,551 in the 11th grade, and 168 in the 12th grade.
The first lesson in secondary schools will be dedicated to the topic "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!"
In the new academic year, the school bell will ring in Aghali village of Zangilan district for the first time.
September 15 - Knowledge Day will not be celebrated solemnly as a sign of respect for the memory of those who died during the large-scale provocation committed by the Armenian armed forces on the night of September 12 and the morning of September 13.
The new academic year will end on June 14.
According to the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev, dated August 21, 2004, the new school year in the country begins on September 15, which is celebrated as Knowledge Day.
