Minister: New program envisages sending 300-400 students abroad annually

“Most of our students, who studied abroad under the first state program, returned to the country and worked here. When developing the new program, the nuances associated with the return of persons traveling to study abroad will be taken into account,” Azerbaijani Education Minister Emin Amrullayev said, referring to the order of President Ilham Aliyev ‘On expanding the opportunities for training Azerbaijani youth in prestigious foreign higher educational institutions,’ Report informs.

The minister noted that if the government creates such an opportunity for citizens, it is important that these persons contribute to the development of Azerbaijan: “The selection is implemented on the basis of several criteria, it will be carried out by a university or a separate commission. In any case, we are in favor that the selection process be transparent, multilateral. The program provides for sending about 300-400 people abroad every year.”

He added that in connection with receiving education abroad, preference will be given to technical and technological areas, fundamental sciences.
