Baku. 12 November. REPORT.AZ/ " 10,130 children with limited health abilities were enrolled in special education in 2017-2018 academic year", Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.
Report informs that the minister spoke during the presentation of the project "Enhancing the quality of inclusive education for children with disabilities."
The minister said that works on the “State Program on Development of Inclusive Education for Persons with Disabilities in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2024” has started.
Speaking about the measures taken by the Ministry of Education for the involvement of children with disabilities in general education institutions, Jeyhun Bayramov noted that currently two projects are being implemented on inclusive education by UNICEF and Regional Development Public Union of Heydar Aliyev Foundation .
He also added that the projects also includes trainings for pedagogical universities, pedagogical staff of general educational institutions in the field of inclusive education, creation of 9 resource centers at schools in Baku and other regions of the country, holding social behavior and social change campaigns to raise awareness about the rights of children with disabilities.
Notably, more than 10,000 teachers and school principals will benefit from inclusive education programs. The project will allow nearly 5,000 children with disabilities to study in secondary schools by the end of 2020.
