Minister: Level of scientific education must be increased in Azerbaijan

Students must develop scientific thinking, Azerbaijan's Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev told the United Nations/Azerbaijan Workshop on the International Space Weather Initiative: The Sun, Space Weather and Geosphere.

Report quotes the minister as saying it is necessary to increase the level of scientific education.

The minister stressed the need for reforms in connection with local curriculum.

“We try to ensure that traditional research institutions, institutions within the National Academy, create a connection with universities. More than 3,000 Azerbaijanis, educated at the world's leading universities, are now contributing to the development of our country. I am glad that as a graduate of this program, I returned to Azerbaijan and also make my contribution. Science does not recognize nations and races. We, as a ministry, run graduate and Ph.D. programs and have established ties with several American universities. Our efforts in this direction continue. We are trying to develop the educational and research areas of local universities through partnerships."
