Kamran Imanov: Level of piracy in book sales in Azerbaijan down from 61% to 20%

Observations show that as a result of the joint measures taken with the relevant state institutions, compared to 2005, the level of piracy in the country has decreased from 61% to 20% in the field of book sales, from 90% to 53% in the audio-video product market, and in software from 96% to 71%, Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Intellectual Property Agency said at the conference held on the occasion of the World Book and Copyright Day within the framework of the Year of Heydar Aliyev.

The head of the institution said that in the Agency is frequently involved in court cases related to intellectual property rights as a third party that does not make an independent claim:

"In 2022, Agency representatives participated in more than 130 court hearings on about 50 cases held in various court instances related to intellectual property objects, expert opinions were prepared for each case and presented to the courts."
