Institute of Linguistics: Ministry and other agencies will have to agree literary language issues with Monitoring Center

Baku. 23 November. REPORT.AZ/ "All ministries and agencies will have to agree literary language issues with legal entity 'Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan'," Chief of Monitoring department of the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi Sevinj Aliyeva said.

She said that the Monitoring Center will play the role of the language ministry: "In Azerbaijan, literary language, generally seen-orphographic and heard-orphoepic in the language should all be derived from that center. Books on Azerbaijani language, textbooks, brochures, medicines, advertisements, etc. whatever, must be agreed with the center. The advantage of the center is that it will have the authority to make decisions different from the Monitoring Department of the Institute of Linguistics. Without the power to influence, the work will not produce any effect."

The head of the department noted that the operation of the center within the State Language Commission is a positive phenomenon and gives an advantage to the center: "Because the State Language Commission is chaired by President Ilham Aliyev and  is represented by outstanding linguists."

Aliyeva also noted that the Monitoring Center will also have a hotline: "The hotline will help people to find answers to their questions operatively and provide direct information about the problems."
