Georgian MP: Ready to cooperate to eliminate shortcomings in textbooks in Azerbaijani schools

"We are ready to cooperate with our Azerbaijani colleagues to eliminate shortcomings in textbooks in schools of Georgia with the instruction in the Azerbaijani language," chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Science and Culture of Georgia Mariam Jashi said speaking at the conference "The state language for the development of human capital and citizen integration".

Report's local bureau informs that, according to her, at the meetings with representatives of the Azerbaijani parliament, a comment was made about the quality of textbooks in some subjects in Georgian schools with the instruction in the Azerbaijani language: “We can eliminate the deficiencies in textbooks with our Azerbaijani colleagues. We are ready to discuss any initiatives and cooperation on this issue."

Jashi noted that there are more than 3,000 schools and sectors with instruction in other languages in Georgia: "A number of activities are being carried out to strengthen the teaching of the Georgian language in these schools. In this area, significant progress has been achieved."

It should be noted that in the neighboring country the main omissions in textbooks published for schools with the instruction in the Azerbaijani language are made during the translation from Georgian into Azerbaijani.
