Event dedicated to outstanding Polish women held at ADA University

An event dedicated to outstanding Polish women was held at the University of ADA in Baku, Report informs.

The event was organized by the representative office of the European Union and the Polish Embassy in Azerbaijan within the "She is the Power!" public campaign of the EU delegation.

First, the visitors got acquainted with the exhibition "Outstanding Polish Women," and then the presentation of the book of the same name took place. The event participants could learn more about the life and achievements of famous Polish women (artists, scientists, travelers, etc.), who were able to change the world for the better with their activities and creativity. The exhibition is dedicated to Marie Salomea Skłodowska–Curie – a physicist and chemist, who became the first and only woman in the world who twice received the Nobel Prize, as well as the only scientist awarded awards in two different fields of natural sciences, Olga Tokarchuk - prose writer and essayist; The Laureate of the Nobel Prize in the literature of 2018, Irene Sentlerova, activist, who saved about 2,500 children from the fascist ghetto during the Second World War.

Opening the event, the Polish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Rafal Poborski said that before, girls did not have so many opportunities for education and career, and now girls and women can follow their dreams and achieve success in many areas, including those that are traditionally considered "masculine".

"Of the 20 people working at the Poland Embassy, 10 are women. They work in various fields, starting from the diplomatic service to the manager," the Polish diplomat noted.
