Azerbaijan reveals list of construction areas for new school buildings in 2020

"More than 100 new schools were built and commissioned in Azerbaijan last year," Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a press conference.

According to Report, the Minister also addressed the issue of the high density of students in schools.

He said there are about 4,500 schools in Azerbaijan.

"In 50% of schools, the number of pupils is 200 or less. Everyone knows that the population of the country is growing every year, and the average number of students is increasing by almost 50,000 annually. The growth of the number of residents is not the same in the regions. Therefore, a high density of students is observed in schools in several settlements. "

Bayramov added that last year the Ministry of Education held several meetings to address this issue.

"It was decided to solve the problem of high density among schoolchildren, primarily in the village of Bina in the Khazar district of Baku, in the Baku villages of Binagadi, Sulutepe, Khirdalan, Masazir, and Saray. In these areas, additional land will be allocated for the construction of schools. We will also consider the possibility of allocating other buildings for local schools. In September 2020, a building for 1,600 pupils will be commissioned in Bina village. In Khirdalan, we will commission a new building for school No 3. The building will accommodate 1,400 pupils. Reconstruction of school No. 1 in Sumgayit will be completed in the first quarter of this year."
