ADA University hosts conference of English teachers

A significant event in the realm of English language education is currently unfolding at ADA University in Baku. The university is hosting a two-day seminar as part of a broader conference, bringing together over 400 English teachers from secondary schools across various regions of Azerbaijan.

Hugo Guevara, the US Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan, spoke at the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance of this initiative.

"We [the US Embassy] have been supporting this training program for four years now. The hardworking teachers dedicated to education have an enormous impact on many young students," Guevara stated.

He emphasized that teaching English to Azerbaijani youth is one of the embassy's top priorities in the country.

Guevara proudly noted that since the course's inception in 2020, 350 Azerbaijani English teachers have successfully completed it at the master's level through a virtual learning program.

The event has drawn participation from representatives of the US Embassy, ADA University, and North Carolina State University.

This conference marks the culmination of an 18-week online professional development program in English for Azerbaijani teachers. The program is conducted by North Carolina State University and funded by the US State Department.
