Azerbaijan is a suitable venue for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), US political scientist and expert in the field of international relations Peter Tase told Report.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan is the ideal location to host COP29; under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Baku will become in 2024 the center of the world where important environmental and climate matters will be tackled,” he noted.
“More than 190 nations will be visiting Azerbaijan during the upcoming global summit of COP29, a historic milestone in the modern history of the nation, an achievement that comes right after Baku’s chairmanship in office of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2019-2022. Baku is set to outperform and deliver impressive results during the organization of this prestigious gathering,” he said.
“The environmental policies and proactive actions against global warming, taken by the Government of Azerbaijan, are an encouraging experience and positive results that invite other regions and countries to do the same.”
On December 11, Azerbaijan was officially announced as the host of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29.
