The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) will support Türkiye's priority on decarbonizing buildings within the COP31, including work on the Antalya Buildings Pact, Ariesta Ningrum, representative of the UNEP Climate Technology Centre and Network, said at the 4th Climate Week (CW4) in Baku, Report informs.
"We are pleased to support this event as part of Baku Climate Action Week and help generate momentum in preparation for COP31 in Antalya," Ningrum said.
According to her, GlobalABC brings together more than 420 organizations, including national and subnational governments, industry representatives, the financial sector, academia, and civil society. She noted that the alliance works toward creating an efficient, resilient, and zero-emission built environment.
"The COP31 Presidency has rightly included building decarbonization and resilience among its ten priorities," Ningrum stated.
She added that UNEP and GlobalABC intend to continue supporting Türkiye's COP31 presidency in advancing practical guidance and a dedicated agenda for the construction sector.
"We look forward to continuing our work with the presidency on the Antalya Buildings Pact as an important framework for strengthening international cooperation, accelerating implementation, and advancing collective action toward shared energy and climate goals," Ningrum said.
