UN named causes of climate change in Azerbaijan

"The physical and geographical characteristics of the territory of Azerbaijan expose it to the adverse effects of climate change," head of Partnership and Liasion Office of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Azerbaijan Melek Cakmak said at a seminar on strengthening the country's capacity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture and land use.

According to Report, she said that, according to the latest estimates, agriculture, water and forestry in Azerbaijan are among the most sensitive to climate change.

Chakmak stressed that the country is already experiencing the negative impacts of climate change, which is manifested in the form of floods, heats, as well as a sharp rise in air temperatures from early spring: "A comprehensive assessment of climate technology solutions in the most sensitive sectors, the development of national adaptation strategies and action plans, and their integration into the national sectors are among the main priorities of the Government of Azerbaijan."
