Umayra Taghiyeva: Countries with rapidly developing economies account for significant share of emissions

Fast-growing economies account for a large share of global emissions, national coordinator of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Umayra Taghiyeva said on the sidelines of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP28 in Dubai.

Report informs that, according to her, the positions of countries on this issue are different.

"Some countries that are developing say that there is a historical responsibility of developed countries, which at one time created this situation. On the other hand, there are economies that are developing very quickly, and now they account for a significant part of global emissions," she said.
