State bodies send experts to conduct environmental investigation in areas where Russian peacekeepers temporarily stationed

Following the request of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Defense appealed to the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces to send specialists from Azerbaijan’s relevant bodies to investigate and monitor the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in the country’s territories where the peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, Report informs, citing MENR.

On December 3, 2022, around 11:00 a.m., employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Service for Real Estate Affairs under the Ministry of Economy, and the AzerGold CJSC approached the checkpoint of the Russian peacekeeping forces between the cities of Khankendi and Shusha to cross the territory.

Currently, the operation of a group of experts in those areas is being discussed with the command of the peacekeeping forces.

“The public will be informed about the results of the negotiations,” MENR said in a statement.
