Reducing methane emissions is an integral part of SOCAR's emission reduction program, SOCAR Vice President Afgan Isayev said at the opening of a panel session on "Progress on Methane: Advancing Global Methane Reduction," held as part of the Baku Climate Action Week, Report informs.
He noted that the company regularly conducts measurements of harmful emissions in order to optimize the decarbonization process.
"We study satellite images to detect methane leaks. We have also started using ground-based measurement methods, engaging professional companies. Together with them, we are developing an artificial intelligence tool that will help us optimize our fight against methane emissions," he said.
