Snow cover reaches 36 cm in Azerbaijan's Aghdere

The weather is changing for colder in Azerbaijan.

Report informs, citing the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, that on February 7, the weather conditions changed as a result of the arrival of cold arctic air currents from the Mediterranean Sea and Turkey to Azerbaijan.

The air temperature on the Absheron peninsula has dropped by 18C compared to the previous day. The temperature was 7C on February 8 and 22-25C yesterday.

As of midnight, the snow cover was 6 mm in Khaltan, Giriz, Saribash, 5 mm in Khinalig, 4 mm in Agdere, 2 mm in Gedebey, and 1 mm in Dashkesen. The height of the snow was 36 cm in Agdere, 21 cm in Agdere (Gakh)m 13 cm in Griz, 12 cm in Khinalig, and 2 cm in Khaltan.

Rainfall was 9 mm in Guba, 7 mm in Ordubad, 6 mm in Gusar, 5 mm in Goygol, 4 mm in Ismayilli, Kurdemir, Lerik, 3 mm in Nakhchivan, Shahbuz, Shamakhi, Beylagan, Kishchay, Shabran, 2 mm in Aghdam, Balaken, Gabala, Zagatala, Altiagaj, Terter, Barda, Goychay, Zerdab, Imishli, Agsu, 1 mm in Baku, Sumgayit, Sharur, Aghstafa, Maraza, Shaki, Ganja, Mingechevir, Sabirabad, Neftchala, Jafarkhan.

West wind occasionally intensified up to 28 m/s in Dashkesen, 24 m/s in Tovuz, 23 m/s in Salyan, Terter, 20 m/s in Naftalan, Aghstafa, Barda, 18 m/s in Astara, Griz, 16 m/s in Hajigabul, 16-20, even 23 m/s in the Absheron peninsula and Absheron district.

As expected, the process will continue on February 8 and become more unfavorable and sharper on February 9-10. The temperature will drop to 0, at night -1 -4 C, the rain will be replaced by sleet, snow, and the wind will intensify.
