Murat Kurum: Türkiye to prioritize COP29 commitments at COP31

Türkiye considers the implementation of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) commitments, especially the Baku Goal, a top priority at COP31, Report informs.

In a video address to the 2026 World Environment Day (WED) in Baku, organized in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Türkiye's Minister of Environment, Urban Planning, and Climate Change and COP31 President Murat Kurum stressed that COP31 will not be limited to new pledges.

"By hosting COP31, Türkiye is closely monitoring the implementation of commitments made at COP29, particularly the Baku Goal. Multilateral credibility is ensured not only by setting targets but by fulfilling promises and applying decisions in practice. COP31 will highlight cooperation and concrete results, because the world no longer wants to hear just new promises – it wants to see them delivered," Kurum said.
