On April 22–24, the second meeting of ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries overseeing environmental, climate, and ecological issues will take place in Astana as part of the Regional Environmental Summit.
As per Report, the session will be moderated by Kazakhstan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nyssanbayev.
The event is expected to be attended by OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad Majeed Khan, Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Oversight Akyl Toktobayev, Chief Advisor to the President of Türkiye and Deputy Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Urbanization Hasan Suver, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov, as well as Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Rauf Hajiyev.
During the meeting, the parties will discuss pressing environmental policy issues, including climate change adaptation, sustainable use of natural resources, and strengthening regional cooperation.
Special attention will be given to the exchange of experience, coordination of priority areas of cooperation, the search for effective solutions to common environmental problems, and the development of joint initiatives in the field of sustainable development.
