Minister of Ecology reveals main reasons for water level decline in Caspian Sea and Kura River

The decrease in the water level of the Kura River is due to climate change, said Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev.

"Unfortunately, very little rainfall also had an effect. There was also little snow. Our main goal is to find ways and places to conserve water resources to provide consumers, especially in the summer months. It should be borne in mind that this is a factor that negatively affects biodiversity. We are working with international organizations to find a solution to this problem.

These processes take place not only in Azerbaijan but all over the world. In many countries, water levels in rivers and seas are falling. The Caspian Sea is an example of this," Babayev told journalists.

According to him, one of the main reasons for the decline in the water level of the Caspian Sea is climate change, as well as the growing demand for water resources, the overuse of these resources: "Our goal is to make water use more efficient and effective. It is necessary to make consumers take this issue seriously and responsibly."
